The best solution is to switch to Firefox - in some countries a LOT of people have switched to Firefox. In Germany 40% of surfers use it.

Better still, go over to Linux - a really stable OS with no "blue screens of death". The best Linux is PCLinuxOS...

IE 7 ????????? Huge mistake !!!!?uninstall internet explorer

All you have to do is remove it from your Add and Remove Programs list. Your previous version of IE will be there.

IE 7 ????????? Huge mistake !!!!?microsoft.com internet explorer

we have ie 7 here and it didn't cause any of those problems. you computer must have other issues.

fortunately since i have a usb 2.0 flash drive i don't have to use ie7 :)) horray portable firefox from http://www.portableapps.com/
Find out where to download the browser you want to use and download it, when installing it you may be asked if you want it to be your default browser if so say yes,

if not you can add the URL in Internet options on IE 7, click on the tools tab at the top right of the browser when it opens select Internet options, at the top of the window you will see a text box with IE 7 address in it, just add the new browser address and make it your default browser.

Also you can go to control panel,add/remove programs, but on the left hand side select the bottom option which is set program access and defaults select custom which again is the bottom choice and make sure Internet explorer is not selected as your default browser.

IE question?internet explorer 6

You can uninstall IE7 and roll back to IE6 but do not attempt to uninstall IE6 if you have XP or an earlier operating system. You can corrupt critical system files as well as render Outlook Express (which is part of IE) virtually useless.

If you have Vista, you cannot roll back to IE6.

Since you feel you have file corruption, follow the steps below to try and repair it.

First update and scan your computer with your security products such as antivirus and antispyware applications. If your computer comes up clean after running your resident security products, you may want to consider running a System File Checker (SFC). This can be run in Safe Mode should you prefer. To get into Safe Mode, reboot and then either hold down or tap the F8 key repeatedly while the computer is starting up. To run SFC, close all applications such as Office, Messenger, Email, etc, and go to:

- Start

- Run

- Type in sfc /scannow (include the space before the " / ")

What SFC does is that it attempts to fix or replace critical operating system files. Sometimes this can be done without the installation disk, however it may prompt you for the appropriate operating system installation disk. If that is the case, then you know that you definitely have major file corruption or something missing. Insert the disk if prompted. Also you should run SFC using the Administrator account.

If you have the Vista operating system, the steps are a bit different due to the UAC. See the link below.

http://vistasupport.mvps.org/system_file...

Don't surf, play games or do anything while SFC runs. After it is completed, reboot your computer.

One of the major culprits in missing or corrupt operating system files is running a registry cleaner or optimizer. They can flag important shared files for deletion or cleanup. Another cause is malware.

NOTE: Before running any registry cleaner or editing the registry, always ensure you back it up first. If the registry cleaner you are using doesn't have that function, you can do it manually. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/322756

stick with firefox
go to add/remove programs from the control panel and choose 'remove'

IE & firefox...?

can i have IE %26amp; firefox in the same computer? or i need to uninstall one of them, and which one is better, what are the advantages of each one...

IE %26amp; firefox...?ies

You can have several browsers on your computer at one time and they will run just fine.

According to the United States Computer Emergency Readiness Team you should not use IE:

"There are a number of significant vulnerabilities in technologies related to the IE domain/zone...It is possible to reduce exposure to these vulnerabilities by using a different web browser"

http://www.kb.cert.org/vuls/id/713878

IE uses Active X, here is what Microsoft says about it:

"An ActiveX control can be an extremely insecure way to provide a feature...From the moment a user downloads an ActiveX control, the control may be vulnerable to attack"

http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/defaul...

(Firefox by default doesn't have Active X at all)

For years IE has had a hole in it that they have never bothered to fix; with this hole many people had had their ID stolen:

http://secunia.com/Internet_Explorer_Arb...

No browser is perfect; just keep in mind that IE has the worst record of them all. Here is IE, Firefox and Opera side by side:

http://www.webdevout.net/security-summar...

One for the road

IE supports webstandards very badly, here is a test you can take to see what I'm talking about:

IE %26amp; firefox...?windows update internet explorer

yes u can have ..u have Internet Explorer by default ..but if u want to download Firefox for faster browsing then go to http://vrajesh.co.nr ..Mozilla Firefox is free there. .
You can have both. You can even have Opera as well. I prefer Firefox because it seems to be faster, and I find the interface easier. But different people have different preferences.
Yes you can have both installed. I prefer firefox simply because it is not microsoft.
Yes you can. Nothing will happen if you have both installed (like I do).

The fact is, whichever browser you use is a personal choice. I personally like Mozilla Firefox better for several reasons. I only keep Internet Explorer installed because there are several websites that are only compatible with IE, such as Windows Update.
You can have as many browsers as you want on your computer! ( I have 3 right now ).

And guess what?... you can have 2 or 3 opened at the same time, (even 2 or 3 of the same one!).

Firefox is touted as being a safer browser than IE, as far as viruses go!
u can have as many browsers as u want on the same computer

i prefer IE, cos almost all websites are constructed on IE, that would be no problem browsing any..
If you have enough space in your garage, do you have to uninstall your porsche to park your ferrari?. You can have as many cars in your garage as much space you have!, with the time you will like one more than the other, but you have not to get rid of any of them.
There is no restriction on the number of browsers your computer is installed with. Although, I have both IE and Firefox reside on my computer, I prefer to use IE as it seems to be better than Firefox as IE displays the images properly.

Thanks!
Yes, you can both of them or any other like internet browser like Netscape, but with Firefox why do you want any other browser.
I have both installed at this very moment :D.

Firefox supposedly is safer. Lots of people use IE, which also means lots of viruses are targeted for IE.

Firefox enables me to download and open zip files (I don't have Winzip) and has a neat and tidy download window that pops up when ever you download something.

The new versions of both browsers have a Tab feature, which I really love, but in IE sometimes pop ups are brought up in a new window (which is annoying), whereas in Firefox it always comes up as a new tab (at least, that's how it is for mine).

Since IE use is more widespread, some websites might not work in Firefox, but you can always open IE real quick to browse the site.

Overall, I like Firefox better ^^..
Ya you can have them both on the same PC. It depends on which one is better. I have an older PC and IE runs better on it but on my newer PC with Xp Foxfire runs a lot better.
U can have both of them together. From my point of view firefox is better since it blocks pop-up's efficiently. But if you want to get a fascinating surfing experience if prefer you to install Opera 9.10 which has a handfull of features. You can download it from www.download.com.(U can have all the three at the same time).

IE 7's Fault!?

Well, I installed IE 7 earlier today. It was working out alright, till I had an error when I tried to go on the internet. This happened multiple times, so I decided to uninstall it. While I was uninstalling, I was chatting with my friend. I then told him I had to reboot the computer and that I'd come back. Unfortunately, when I cam back from the reboot, my computer was completely messed up. My MSN Messenger wouldn't work, it keeps saying the server is unavailable. Then I went to youtube. I tried browsing around the comments, but it wouldn't let me click the numbers. I just stay on page 1 the whole time. And yes, I tried rebooting my computer again. Just caused more damage. How can I fix this?! I need SERIOUS help. PLEASE! I tried uninstalling, then reinstalling my MSN Messenger, but that didn't do any good. What if this continues on? Please help me. T____________T

IE 7's Fault!?internet explorer 6

this is because IE sucks, after u fix it download Firefox. u wont be disappointed.

start the computer up and run and error check (my computer, right click C: drive, properties, 2nd tab). also run a defrag while ur at it. (also on the first tab u see an option for disk clean up. use it)

then if u still have a problem, insert your windows cd, go to the run command and type "sfc -scannow" w/o the ". (not alot of ppl know this trick :)

also do a system restore to a time before u installed IE.

First, I think you're using IE version 6, which *really* sux0rz. I reccomend you to download another browser, for example:

Firefox - http://getfirefox.com

Opera - http://opera.com

Outlook wont open IE links to websites from my e- mails.?

Outlook wont open IE links to websites from my e- mails. IT used to, but not now. when i click on a link in my e-mail it opens up Internet Explorer but doesnt go anywhere- just a blank page. Anyone direct me to the exact setting page to fix this in outlook or IE?

Outlook wont open IE links to websites from my e- mails.?download ie

It is not your outlook, as outlook does direct you to the internet, check your firewall, spyware and anti-virus settings.:)

Also create a email and paste a few links, so see if it is just some links or all of them:)
