Error message on IE; wants to install drivecleaner?

Is this a virus that came with the latest IE updates or what??? The computers at work %26amp; mine at home will pop up with a huge message saying did you know your computer tracks all the porn sites you visit, blah blah blah, would you like to install drivecleaner. It basically shuts down whatever you were in %26amp; even if you hit cancel, it will automatically pop up with the screen to install. Only way to exit is to shut the window %26amp; then go back onto IE.

I do not visit porn sites, I hate that this msge shuts down what I am in, how do I stop it? Pop up blockers %26amp; virus protection are enabled yet it still happens...What's going on, anyone else experience this???

This wouldn't have came with the new IE7. Even if you don't browse porn sites you can pick this up at many other sites without even noticing. DO NOT install it....it is deffinitly malware.

Download Ad-aware, install, update, and run full system scan. Remove everything it finds.
Get a virus scanner and scan your computer.
Drivecleaner is spyware, and it is trying to scare you into buying their product, which is crap. Your antivirus can't get rid of it. Get SpyBot Search %26amp; Destroy to safely remove spyware. Best of all, it鈥檚 free. After installing it, immunize the computer against over 31,000 known pieces of spyware. Then run a full bot check and remove everything it finds using the Fix Selected Problems tab. Keep it updated and run it weekly to keep your computer free of this stuff. Then get Ad-Aware also from download.com and run it the first time doing a Full System Scan. Thereafter, run a Smart Scan daily.

Keep them both updated and use them.
No it didn't come wit IE you got it surfing the web.

If i upgrade to ie 7 and dont like it can i go back to ie 6 easily?...see details?

First of all, this is my girlfriends computer and she's the type of person that absolutely hates change....with anything.I think its a disorder of some sort.Anyways,ie 6 is running like crap,it closes itself out all the time, hardly ever works right, gets tons of errors, its always getting a box that comes up and says "work offline" and/or "try again",etc....Needless to say,its a problem.I use firefox and opera, and dont have a problem, but theres those rare cases where you just cant get around using ie.She is not that tech savvy at all so,would she even notice if i updated it?Is there that much of a difference? Can i go back to ie 6 easily if its a problem for her?She wont let me upgrade it,but wont shut up and stop complaining about it at the same time...she thinks its something im doing that causes the problems...typical....Also,she flatly refuses to try opera or firefox, she wont even give it a chance, like i said, shes old school and hates change. Its a good thing anyways, there customized.

If i upgrade to ie 7 and dont like it can i go back to ie 6 easily?...see details?ie

IE 7 is sort of like Firefox. There is not much difference. If you install IE 7.0, it is simple to uninstall, just go to Add\Remove programs and uninstall. It will bring the IE browser back to IE 6.

My computer crashed and I had to reload from my recovery disk. In IE the Calendar info is missing and I keep getting a msg telling me that, but no info on how to fix it.

IE Properties-Programs-CALENDAR info is missing and will not let me input anything. Help??microsoft zune

Are you getting a " Missing .DLL error message when trying to run calendar after Windows XP installation ? This is a possible solution.

- Copy the following files from " M\CALENDAR " to " C\CALENDAR "

(1) - CALRES32.DLL (2) - MFC30.DLL (3) - MFCAN32.DLL

(4) - MFCO30.DLL (5) - MFCUIA32.DLL

Or, failing that, try running " Calendar set-up program" again. If the Calendar still won't open, run the Internet Explorer set-up program again to install missing files. That's all I can come up with. I hope you get your problem resolved.

try refreshing the page or going to your home page
Dump then reload the 7 upgrade. Empty Recycle Bin, Shut down, reboot.

Reload 7, (if you must). Shut down/reboot.
dunno, lol
It is possible that you have history in the cache that is somehow in conflict with the new version----go to your internet options page and delete all history there ---keep the cookies---they are hard to do without once you restart---retry to load your pages

??? if this doesn't do it---you may have to remove and reinstall as mentioned by the dude here earlier

Hope this gets you going again

And, good luck !!!
This is a real nasty one that I've been through! When you download the new IE 7 and it does not load, it normally leaves a file on your computer explaining why- usually it's in your registry and you have to go in through your start menu to what is called "regedit" and search a certain setting in your registry that's preventing it from loading and change it. If you do not get this file, go to the MS site and type in "IE7 does not load" and hopefully it brings up the causes and solutions for you. If not, you may have to phone Microsoft while you are doing it and get them to walk you through it. If this is not the case, you may have a damaged winninet.dll file from a virus that went around the net recently. Before doing anything, make sure that all your important files are backed up. I had to re-format my computer.
Its time you changed your browser to Firefox or Opera and give time to MIcrosoft to stabilise IE7.

IE keeps crashing?

I have the latest version of IE and it was working fine and something happened to it recently because it keeps crashing. Doesn't matter what site I visit, after I've been using it for about 5 minutes, it just crashes. I think I need to reinstall it, how do I go about doing that?

Should I remove IE 7 and use an older version an older Mozilla to speed up my slow internet?

Version 7 of IE uses way to much memory for my slow computer.

I want to know if it is unsafe to use an older version of IE or Mozilla. All I want is the tab feature, but IE7 is very slow for some reason.

Should I remove IE 7 and use an older version an older Mozilla to speed up my slow internet?windows xp professional

FireFox is SO much faster than IE anyways.

=)

Go with Mozilla.

Should I remove IE 7 and use an older version an older Mozilla to speed up my slow internet?windows xp home internet explorer

Absolutely. :) Using Internet Explorer at all is generally not a good idea anyway, for several reasons.
You cannot increase your sloww internet connection by simply degrading your softwares. You have to use advanced browsers for a quicker web access. The reason for your slower speed may be that since you installed it there is nothing in the cache memory. Use it for sometime and you will feel the difference.

Or try Firefox or Opera before uninstalling IE7.
I use Firefox as my default browser, but I did not remove IE7 (I don't think you can anyway).

Sometimes I find things online that FF can't handle, so I can still use IE7 in those cases.

I don't see a lot of difference in speed- must be something in your settings, or maybe memory is not enough?
If your running Windows Vista, you can't remove IE 7. But if your running XP or older...

Run some spyware scans, make sure nothing is bogging your computer down; also check "tools -%26gt; manage Add-ons". Too many plug-in's such as toolbars can slow your browser down. The reason your IE is slow, is most likely because of the built in "Phishing filter", make sure that's disabled. If you have Norton, they also install this phishing filter thing on your IE, disable those any other plug-ins that you don't use. The only time IE was slow for me was when I had a internet TV toolbar, after I disabled it, IE was smooth.

You don't have to read the rest, but it explains why I think IE is faster.

From my experience, IE is actually a bit faster than Firefox. If you do use Firefox, I think you'll find that it uses more memory than IE running the same content (check by using your Task Manager, accessed from ctrl+alt+del).

IE is a bit faster, particularly because of the pre-fetech feature. I'm not sure if Windows still does this, Windows has in the past used a feature called Pre-fetch to partially start certain programs such as IE and Media Player even before you manually chose to start them, so they'll start faster and etc, so that's why IE is a bit faster.

Now if you only want the tab feature, I believe our very own Yahoo has a toolbar or plug-in for IE 6 that adds the tab feature. So you might want to downgrade back to IE 6, and then get the Yahoo toolbar.
I don't have a problem with IE7.

Your problem may lie elsewhere. Maybe some housecleaning is in order:

1. Set wallpaper and screensavers to blank or none 鈥?they run continuously in the background and use memory.

2. Review your start menu 鈥?remove anything you don鈥檛 need on a daily basis 鈥?load games, etc. on an as-needed basis.

3. From Internet Explorer, sign out 鈥?then click Tools, Internet Options: delete cookies, delete files (offline), and clear history. (You can also set days to store history to 0.)

----- These actions will clear your computer鈥檚 cache. (For a description of cache, go to http://help.yahoo.com/l/ph/yahoo/mail/ac... )

4. Run Disk Cleanup, Scandisk, Defrag at least every two weeks (the more frequently they are run, the less time they take).

5. Periodically, click Start, Programs, Run 鈥?they type ipconfig renew

(that鈥檚 ipconfig space renew).

6. This will show you how to optimize your PC鈥檚 performance.

http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/using...

These things should increase speed and free up memory as much as possible.

Otherwise you might need some virus scans or spyware scans.
Try the following

goto run and type cmd (it open command prompt window)

then type ping yahoo.com

after the process have look at ping statistics. if it showz 0% loss, then problem might b with some settings or explorer itself..

otherwise u have problem with your connection...(low bandwidth etc..)
Seems like you have a bad URL (trying to send you to a page or server that is not there). Can you post it, or tell how you got it?

IE not caching images!?!?

Im using IE 6 on Windows and have noticed the browser constantly redownloading the same images over and over. Internet Options - Check New Versions of Page is set to Automatic.

I've tried the following:

a= new Image()

a.src="myimage.gif";

and

%26lt;div style="display:none"%26gt;

%26lt;img src="myimage.gif"%26gt;

%26lt;/div%26gt;

but both techniques have not helped to reduce the 60 seperate HTTP calls the browser is making. FF is fine of course.

Any ideas?

IE not caching images!?!?microsoft publisher

Are the images on your local hard drive? Internet Explorer won't cache them - at least I've never seen it do so.

If the images are on a server is the server set to send headers which tell IE not to cache the images.

Is your "Temporary Internet Files" set to a drive or folder that you have write access to? If pages are cached there as you surf, or you can copy a file there, then it is.

How much space is set aside for your cache, is it enough?

I've heard there is an issue with IE not caching images loaded from css. Is that the case here?

I don't know what errors you're getting but any error isn't a good one. I would uninstall IE 7.0 and try to reinstall it from scratch. Go to Start | Control Panel | Add and Remove Programs. Make sure the "Show Updates" box is checked at the top of the Add/Remove screen. Scroll down under Windows XP updates and select to remove IE 7.0. Your system will revert back to IE 6.0. I have had to do this once or twice for some reason, to get IE 7.0 to function properly.

Help updating to IE 7...it semms to hang.?

I say seems to hang because it does not respond but when you check Task Manager under processes it's CPU usage is changing over time. However it's CPU usage is VERY high, it's using anywhere from 45 to 50% of the CPU. When I install the update it takes a while but seems to go fine, then on restart it changes my IE icon to version 7's icon, when I open it it sits there with a blank screen with one tab at the top which reads "connecting........" This is all it does, I can access nothing within it but it continues to consume my CPU but never gets flagged by Task manager as not responding. I just updated my dad's computer and it works fine, now I do it on mine and I have to run system restore and restore to the point just before I ran the update to get my old IE back. Can anyone help???

Help updating to IE 7...it semms to hang.?windows updates

It continues to hang because of some other software that is currently running in the background (in most cases). I would either use the Task Manager to shut down any unecessary programs that you do not currently need to be operating at the time prior to installation of the new IE 7. Another option is to turn some programs off permantely using the MSCONFIG command. To do this, you begin as follows:

1. Click on Start

2. Click on Run

3. Type in MSCONFIG in the field, hit enter

4. Once the program opens, click on the Startup tab

5. Review the programs that start up each time your computer starts. If they are not necessary, take the check mark out.

6. Once you complete this task, click on OK and restart your machine.

Good luck!

Try doing a system scan @ PC Pitstop.com to see if there's any problems with things like shortage of RAM memory or Virtual memory (where the computer uses a portion of your hard drive to temporarily store things on your computer. You'll find the full scan @ http://www.pcpitstop.com/pcpitstop/

Next, thing I'd suggest trying if your computer's memory is ok is to download %26amp; install Mozilla Firefox from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/ and set that as your default browser instead of Internet Explorer

You may also want to check to make sure your computer hasn't had the dreaded corrupted Internet Explorer corrupted cache error....... something I had occur several times with my old PC. For example, if you go to www.officesupportnow.com (my website), on this computer, all I see is the text and the buttons to go to the other web pages. No picture on the right, no background color.

I need to redo my website but am holding off until I can see it on this computer the way I should be able to!

Additionally, (I don't know if this is related) but sometimes the font within the form fields online is quite large in IE only)

Does firefox look better than IE?

i don't know if it's just me

or if there is a reason why

i've tried to tweek IE

but without doing anything, with firefox all the sites just look very sharp and clear...or normal

because with IE

sometimes little icons are not even there

my school for some reason the whole name is a big black smudge

a lot of things look blocky

it just looks terrible

a video will play the same i think

but the stuff on the web page just looks really out of focus with IE

i don't even think i'm too concerned with trying to fix it

but would there be a reason

and if there is a fix

why is it that it needs to be adjusted while firefox just looks right anyway

A lot of web designers don't test for compatability between browsers which causes the problems you're talking about. It's kind of weird that the site would look ok in Firefox and not IE. Usually it's the other way around. Reputable web designers (like http://www.directhitsolutions.com ) do a lot of inter-browser testing to ensure a site will look the same (or close) between browsers.

ans: oh! dear friend,

a lot of customers ask me this question for this i will tell u answer in 2 phases 1st why and 2nd how to resolve it,,,

1st: why its coming:

ans: this is only reason you are not good with tables and formation of tables

for e.g. every %26lt;tr%26gt;%26lt;/tr%26gt; must have only %26lt;td%26gt;%26lt;/td%26gt; inside it always for a best presentation while there some can miss in ur codings or misplaced.

for e.g. if u want to put any data u must always try to put it in between any %26lt;td%26gt;%26lt;/td%26gt; not like anywhere !

i recommand frontpage 2003 sw to be used for this purpose like i do use.

apart from this basically you shall try to learn a little more about tables

apart from this i will tell u final thing as follows:

"always start your site from %26lt;table%26gt; and end your site with %26lt;/table%26gt;%26lt;/body%26gt;%26lt;/html%26gt; mean to say start and end always all your website datas in tables from start to end."

hope i tried best to answer u ...

regards!

Sorry, you can't . It's a render engine problem: the site was specifically designed for IE.
There are generally a number of ways, but most importantly: check your preferences in Mozilla. Is JavaScript enabled? This tends to be a major factor in terms of Mozilla not displaying web pages properly.

Posting the URL to your site would be helpful in the long run though. That way, contributors could view your source, and work to solve your problem quicker (:

Error 404 in IE?

Thanks for help; I have updated IE and still got 404; my site is hosted on my own web server, so I think there is no need to set the custom error message, yes? But when I try to access my site from other comp, it still works with Mozilla, but IE cant find a page (404)? How can it be fixed? Please help!?

Error 404 in IE?microsoft.com

I'm going to assume "your own web server" is Microsoft IIS. In the Internet Services Manager (I believe that's what it's called), right-click on the web site and make sure you have an IP address assigned to the web site. If not, then I believe it uses your local IP (127.0.0.1), which isn't accessible from any computer but yours. Try setting the IP to your IP.

sounds like an old read error bug. they didn't have many great 'handles' for other programs to grab onto and activate it. it could just be that the software is messed up and you might just need to update either IE or Yahho IM. Look up the meanings of each Add-on and decide which to disable . When the time comes and a website pops up an alert needing the Add-on , you can enable that Add-on then . I disable all Yahoo Add-ons as a recommended security barrier . IE6 does not format CSS properly. To accomodate for IE6, use these tags in the head part of your document and change the CSS to make it work.

Does anyone know how to clear IE of saving your searches or web sites? (Not clear history, read deta

I have IE 6 (internet explorer just incase you don't know :D) on a Windows XP. I was wondering if there is a way to clear searches you make. Like when you type something in on google, IE remembers it so when you type something starting with the same letter it shows you that previous search since it's the same letter. Can you do something so IE doesn't keep track of your searches? Also the same thing with websites. You type in a website adress and go to it and then next time you type a website adress starting with the same letter it shows you that previous site. Can you clear that? I know in Firefox you can go to privacy and click an option for it not to remember searches. Can you do this is IE and make it not keep track of searches. Please help!

MySpace CSS IE / Firefox issue?

i realize that firefox and IE render CSS differently because of the way the code is parsed.

You cant use javascript to correct CSS issues in myspace, nor can you use a Link rel="stylesheet", usually i would use a %26lt;!--[if IE]%26gt; statement to check the browser, then link to the appropriate stylesheet.....myspace blocks the %26lt;link%26gt; tag...

any other way to get around my firefox layout looking like crap?

MySpace CSS IE / Firefox issue?opera browser

Use the IE conditional comments, as follows:

- style the page perfectly in Firefox

- determine what needs to be different for IE (general or even specific versions) not by changing what you've done for FF, but by overriding it with different attribute value for the same selectors repeated at the bottom of your origin FF style sheet ("cascade," right? - later, more local, or more specifically selected styles take precedence - you're not deleting any of your earlier FF work but only overriding it with repeated declaration later in the cascade)

- add any new style for IE, again down at the bottom of your style sheet, to keep all the IE "tweaks" together

- once you're done getting it perfect in IE, cut the set of overrides out of the end of your style sheet and include those in an IE conditional comment in the HTML itself

Now your base style sheet is perfect for FF, and your in-page conditional comments an contain an internal style sheet (%26lt;style%26gt; block) that offers overrides that repair the cascade for IE.

This can repeated "ad nauseum" for different flavors of IE, if you intend to support multiple versions.

MySpace CSS IE / Firefox issue?microsoft windows internet explorer

Well, technically, for the most part, Firefox will display things correctly. IE is usually the problem.

However, without specific code examples, I can't help you.

Edit:

Myspace is pretty strict about what it allows in terms of formatting. I don't know of any way to do what you're asking. MySpace isn't exactly the pinnacle of of CSS/HTML compatibility or usability.

If it's ok to use Firefox is there anything I need to know?

Firefox or IE 7 ?microsoft access

Since I switched to Linux I use Firefox, Konqueror, Seamonkey and Opera. Something you should understand: Firefox and Seamonkey are both in a real sense descendants of Netscape, which itself was available for Unix and Linux before it was available for Windows. Using them in a Unix-like environment makes perfect sense, but of course I find it sensible to use a Unix-like environment. The security advantage of Netscape-enabled browsers, frankly is precisely that they are not tightly integrated into the operating system: in Linux they operate in user space and in fact I've surfed the net comfortably using versions of both Firefox and Seamonkey which were installed in my /home directory and had no permission to write anywhere but to my personal account.

Frankly, the current version, Firefox 2 is a memory hog. This has something to do with that a lot of it is written in an interpreted language callled XUL. Firefox 3 reportedly runs much better over time (though it takes as much memory initially). It's supposed to be officially released in the next month. You might consider waiting or downloading the beta version.

That said, obviously you can run both IE 7 and Firefox, or should be able to. This is also true of Opera and any other browser availabe from a third party. You shouldn't do any damage to IE. There is no reason, should you try to run another browser, you shouldn't continue to use IE unless like so many of us you decide to give up Microsoft software. ;-)

Firefox or IE 7 ?windows mobile 6 internet explorer

You can have both programs, I prefer Firefox alot more..never had problems with it, but Explorer was a pain in the butt for awhile. You will have to save your favorites into your bookmarks in Firefox.
Firefox is the best in my opinion. It will not wipe out IE. It will ask you to import the bookmarks from IE actually.

Firefox is safer, and more secure. Plugins make it great!

Check it out..read the about, features, etc..then decide if it's right for you.
Avoid Firefox!

When you download Firefox, it comes complete with free membership in a cult religion. You will need to face the West and bow down and pray to your new god, Mozilla, at least 5 times a day.

Of course this "free" browser comes with a steep price. You will be encouraged to become an evangelist for the "cause" (see "answers" above^) by being pressured to join the "Spread Firefox" propaganda campaign:

http://www.spreadfirefox.com/

You will be required to constantly spam newsgroups and forums (Yahoo Answers included). To anyone that posts or asks any question about Internet Explorer, you will be required to reply that the only solution is to dump IE and use Firefox. You will annoy people with shouts of "Firefox has a built-in pop-up blocker...Firefox has a built-in pop-up blocker", despite the fact that Internet Explorer has had a pop-up-blocker ever since XP SP2...almost 4 years ago.

You see, the truth has never been important to Mozilla / Firefox. They have their own dangerous socialist / left-wing agenda.

You must understand that this religion, just like all the others, has its own devil, (Bill Gates), and its own Hell, (Redmond). From this day forward you shall devote your entire life to saving the world from Microsoft.

If, you become one of the chosen disciples of this cult, you will be allowed to help in the coding of new versions of Firefox. Of course you will not be paid for your efforts. Despite the fact that Mozilla Corporation had 2006 revenue of over over $70,000,000.00 USD:

http://www.calacanis.com/2006/03/06/fire...

It prefers to brainwash its followers into toiling for the Mozilla Mother-church for free. Slave labor is always best. Firefox / Mozilla Corporation loves to cry poor-mouth. And the lemmings always follow.

Of course the hierarchy of the church, such as High-Priestess and corporate president, Mitchell Baker, ARE well compensated for their work:

http://mozillalinks.org/wp/2007/01/money...

Funny how that works, isn't it?

I am surprised that Baker hasn't taken to wearing her own version of the Papal Hat:

http://juliuspaintings.co.uk/cgi-bin/pai...

Perhaps one made out of flea-infested fox pelts! It would certainly help to hide that hideous hair-do of hers;

http://www.siliconbeat.com/entries/peopl...

Firefox...the browser of choice of pimply-faced, male adolescent fanboys, who are badly in need of female companionship; and aging hippies with gray ponytails.

HA...;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-) ;-)
I think OPERA is nicest, but I use Opera AND Firefox, so that if I want to use the slightly less secure firefox with all of it's great add-ons, I click my 'drag n drop' Opera button labelled 'inFF'.

I did sometimes use inIE - but find now that IE isn't a patch on either Opera or Firefox. Firefox is best, but Opera is much nicer to use and more responsive.

Get firefox, then click 'tools, add-ons'

Then install the following to start you off with a much better net experience:

Adblock

Bandwidth diagnostics

Customise Google

Download Helper (for flash video)

Mouse Gestures

PDF Download

Session Manager

Speed Dial

Stop Autoplay (stops google video's autoplaying and sapping your bandwidth until you click them)

Stumble Upon - the single BEST ever add on

Unlike the man above me, I think the single reason for leaving IE7 behind is that it cannot offer these add-ons, and it is not free - Microsoft is very bad - and don't give you the choice of avoiding use of IE, however I find that many sites I cannot log into with IE7 are accessible with firefox and opera.

IE7 is too heavy to access my hotmail account most of the time, but FF opens it very easily and quickly. It's TRUTH that guides me, not an irrational need to defend Windows.

Now I use linux, and find Firefox to be identical on this platform, and it's the same on my friend's Macintosh.

What about IE7? search Google for comparisons
Firefox will not affect IE7, and for my money, IE7 is considerably faster than Firefox, and if you browse smartly, any security concerns are limited. Firefox is also a bit of a pain when it comes to constantly having to dowmlaod and update add-ons, though i will say there are LOTS of great add-ons to Firefox that you cant get with IE, so it is def worth having both on your computer.

And what that last guy said is priceless, though i wish i had the time he had available.
i use firefox, and i've had no probs. my comp is windows xp. if it ain't broke, don't fix it. i would be a little wary of downloading IE7, for the fear of messing stuff up. why do you want firefox if nothing is wrong?

To make Yahoo! Mail the default email application for your computer, click Tools %26gt; Internet Options %26gt; Programs tab %26gt; under E-mail click the down arrow and select Yahoo! Mail %26gt; click Apply. If Yahoo! Mail isn't listed as a default email option follow the directions below and it will solve your problem.

Using Internet Explorer just click "Continue" on the link below to download a small 60K file that will enable Yahoo! Mail to be the default email application for your computer. Whenever you click on an email address on any web page or in any computer program, Yahoo! Mail will open for you in a new window.

If Internet Explorer displays a yellow security bar at the top, click on it and select Install ActiveX Control from the menu.

If a security warning comes up with Yahoo! Inc. as the publisher, click Install.

Now you can click on an email address anywhere and your computer will automatically open up Yahoo! Mail for you.

You can even send documents directly from Word, Excel, or other Windows applications.

If microsoft separated it's IE from windows?microsoft updates

If IE was seperated, Netsacpe would still be in business and eveyone would be using a browser of thier choice. You see prior to all this controversy, browsers could be ordered from comanpies and thay shipped on CD-ROMs/Floppy disks just like all other software today, so there is no need to have IE to get netscape.

Besides netscape there are other browsers like Opera and Mozilla that are *far* more superiror to IE and offer btter features. It is possible to get rid of "IE" from Win98 using custom programs... but it will void your license.

I have a fairly new HP Entertainment laptop. Whenever I am on IE it freezes after 15 mins or so. I have to go into the task manager and close out the IE process and start all over. This has grown to be extremely annoying. I have run spybot and bazzooka and nothing helps. I have symantec and no virus have occured.

Please help!!!

IE Freezing constantly?windows media player 10

Use FireFox as your default browser. IE is a spyware magnet.

IE Freezing constantly?microsoft net internet explorer

First thing you need to do it get rid of Symantec. It is extremely bloated, unreliable and takes up way too many system resources. Get rid of it and get a free virus scanner like AVG that takes up very little memory. Also, go get the 60-day trial version of a program called PrevX1 and scan for spyware. It is a fully functional trial and it will find any spyware you have on your system.
I'll fix your problem in two words:

Mozilla

Firefox

http://www.mozilla.org
install firefox and see what happens
Click start %26gt;click run %26gt;type in msconfig click on the startup tab then uncheck everything there except your anti virus and internet connection . Click ok and your computer will restart .

Try another browser like firefox http://securitynewsfromthenet.blogspot.c...

or opera http://www.opera.com/download/
You should run an update check you probably need an IE upgrade.
Don't bother going to mozilla or firefox, people are creating spyware programs for them and they have no real way of blocking them to this point. Download IE7. It works fine and it a lot more secure than IE6.
The one and only perfect solution:

Get Mozilla Firefox.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

Its a lot easier, cleaner, neater, as well as freezes less, has a better pop-up blocker, can be configured more not to mention uses a lot less memory on your computer.
well catilin all you have to do is use a standard heater fan and put it on the left or right hand side of you pc tower and set it

if you don't keep the dust off your processor fan will not breath easy thus your computer will process slower than before.
you have more then likely installed a program that is incompatible with vista os. possibly the bazzooka one. it will cause problems like that when intalls are incompatible. in time vista will have more compatible software, make sure that any software that you install has vista capabilities. if not, you will have issues like this..

now to fix your internet explorer problem. if you can pull up the internet explorer tool bar click on tools.. if not, go to the control panel and click on classic view and then internet options. ( at the tools menu click on internet options at the bottom) then go to and delete all cookies and temp. internet files. then go to advance and click on it and scrolll all the way to the bottom of the page, and you will find internet explorer RESET button.. click on it and it will reset internet explorer..

then make sure that your security for virus protection is vista compatible, and up to date. scan.. and also make sure the any spyware that you intall is vista compatible. the vista operating system comes with windows defender in the all programs menu, it will scan your system for spyware.

good luck, hope you get your internet explorer to work again.

( note: if you can not get to any of the options listed above because it keeps freezing on you. go to your task manager and try new task and type in the menu item you need to open. or type it in the search space in start up menu)
There are a few simple steps to this, regardless of which browser you use, but they take a bit of time to do.

1) Make sure your computer is up to date on ALL of the Microsoft updates. This includes all of the critical/security updates, the software updates, and the drivers. If you use Firefox, make sure you have the latest version.

2) When you scan for viruses, if at all possible you should scan while in Safe Mode. To get to Safe Mode, restart the laptop and when it goes to a blank screen immediately start pressing the F8 key very rapidly until you get a menu. From that menu, choose Safe Mode. When Safe Mode starts, you will be advised that you are running in Safe Mode (useless nagging) and asked if you want to do so. Choose Yes, then run your virus and spyware scans.

3) Check to see how many programs you are running at once. More programs running means your computer has more work to do. Look by the clock at the bottom right. The more things you see there, the more work your computer has to do. Close out everything that you can, and if possible prevent it from starting up automatically.
I have run into this with IE7 on XP SP2. After communicating with MS, personally I believe there is a bug in IE 7. Since it was writtend for VISTA, there has to be a hook somewhere that's causing this. I would suspect there will be a patch out over the next few weeks. In the mean time Firefox would be a good interim.

My IE 7 under Vista loads up very slowly, runs slow, slow keystrokes. I've turned off add ons.

None of my other browsers on my machine (Vista box) exhibit these same behaviors. Someone suggested I take off google toolbar but in two other machines I have (an XP and yet another Vista machine) I have google toolbar and my IE 7 works just fine. I don't have any viruses or spyware that I know of because this machine has Norton and I scan regularly. I don't think it's sys resoures as I have 3GB RAM %26amp; Intel quad core @2.4GHz. Any ideas how to resolve IE's perf issue?

Updating IE question?

how can I find out what version of IE I have, and how do I upgrade it? My bank says I am having trouble with their website because it has something to do with my computer, not their website. When I try to access my account, it says the server won't let me. The bank says I may need to update my IE. How? Everything worked fine just a few days ago, then boom --- it doesn't work anymore. I talked to the bank's IT dept.

forget IE
Best Advise Get: Mozila Firefox at getfirefox.com

Otherwise to get the version of your IE Goto(in you IE browser) [Help] Then [About Internet Explorer] and it gives you the version. and to update it. See Microsoft for that.
forget IE it sucks get firefox
You can find out what version of IE you have by clicking on "Help" at the top of IE, then clicking on "About Internet Explorer". The newest version should be version 7 as of now. You can upgrade on microsoft's website or probably by doing a windows update. Just go to microsoft's website www.microsoft.com and searching for "internet explorer 7" or something like that. Hope this solves your problem!!

Firefox and IE the only browsers left?? They Forgot one!!?

There was a report in yahoo that firefox was the only browser left battling Internet Explorer, They forgot to mention the regular mozilla browser, and more importantly OPERA!! All are far superior to Microsofts IE, and never get much use simply because Microsoft doesn't bundle their competitors software with windows (Duh), and the fact that microsofts Active X platform is taking over sites like this (active x = spyware that is legal by the way) and firefox and opera dont readily accept these without extensions or add-ons (Explorer required a lot of these too, but downloads them in the background so you dont notice), which ARE available easily, you just have to click the button a couple of times! Anyhow, the question is, WILL YOU PEOPLE PLEASE GIVE FIREFOX OR OPERA A GOOD CHANCE? Download one or the other, you will love them once you get used to them. Firefox is a little more like IE now that MS has stolen their design, but Opera is a piece of art (Very Beautiful) Try them, please!

Firefox and IE the only browsers left?? They Forgot one!!?windows media player

Don't use IE, it would be a serious mistake to give MicroSoft total control of the Internet. I always use Mozilla Firefox! its better and safer from viruses too.

Firefox and IE the only browsers left?? They Forgot one!!?windows live messenger internet explorer

I love Opera too : D but I usually use FF seen as it flicks up on my screen in a second whereas Opera takes a little time.
I've been using Firefox for about 7mos now. Too many freeze ups with IE, so I gave Firefox a shot. Very happy with its performance.
i like firefox the best... simple but awesome UI. tried Opera but didn't like it very much.
these days even safari is turning out better than IE.. to be considered i fell.. and its cross platform too!
i love firefox!
I agree totally. I use a Mac so I use Camino as my browser, but on a PC, I would never use IE. It is a useless and dangerous tool. I trust Mozilla way more than IE. I also like Opera, but it's interface takes some getting used to. It is a matter of preference, and both Firefox and Opera are far superior to IE6 and even IE7. Opera is the most secure, you will need to get used to it though, it is different.
There are more web browsers out there than you can shake a stick at, most discussions involve the ones most commonly used. It's nice to see a plug for Opera, it is a good web browser also.

HELP PLEEASSE. IE/Firefox/wireless problem.?

Okay so I just hooked up my mums laptop to our wireless network and I tried to connect but the message "FORBIDDEN

you were dennied access because:

access denied by access control list."

This occurs on both firefox 2 and ie 6

I would rather fix firefox than IE.

Best answer will be given to the first solution that works.

Thanks In advance!

HELP PLEEASSE. IE/Firefox/wireless problem.?microsoft office

I don;t think its your browser. There either a rule on your wireless router than prevents your laptop from going to the internet or to a specific web site or there must be a security software installed on the laptop.

HELP PLEEASSE. IE/Firefox/wireless problem.?opera browser internet explorer

The only things that come to mind are:

1. Make sure ur firewall on your mom's laptop allows it to connect to ur network. Some firewalls like McAfee need users to allow entrance into a network.

2. Make sure the firewall on your router is allowing other computers to connect. Most routers these days have build in firewalls that may prevent any other computer from connecting. Do a direct connect to ur router (by logging on to the IP Address), and make sure ur firewall settings are ok.

3. WEP!!!! If u have set a password for ur router, then make sure ur typing it correctly into ur laptop. THis is a very common error.

?Since ur getting a "Forbidden" error, then it must be a security issue. Good luck!!!

How do I get IE 6.0.2900 to open a window in the same page?

For example, if I do a search in Yahoo and click on one of the resulting links, it ALWAYS opens the link in a new window. I want IE to use the existing window.

Also, this is on a work computer, so I am stuck using IE 6.0.2900 xxxxx (ie. whatever the version is that came on the machine, that is what I must use).

Also, in Tools, Internet Options, Advanced, the box "Reuse windows for launching shortcuts" is already checked.

Thanks!

I think you're wanting to link to open in your current window, instead of a new tab and/or window. To do this, make sure that this option is activated. IF NOT ~ try rt-clicking the link and selecting "open." Most SHOULD open in the current window, but remember, a lot of sites have coded for their pages to open in a new window so that you don't lose the original site you were on.

Hope it helps in some way.

IE will not open when using YIM?

I had this problem with YIM 7 so I just upgraded to 8 to see if it would fix the problem. When I click on mail from the messenger window, it prompts me whther I want to be logged in automatically or not. I click yes, but IE (my default browser) does not open and I get no e-mail page. Also, when I click to play launchcast, I do not get any sound, or any errors. I've tried turning off my firewall with the same results. It is as if the appropriate registry values are not set for messenger to launch IE. Has anyone fixed this type of problem?

Uninstall Yahoo Instant Messenger, upgrade your browser to IE 7 (or better, Mozilla) and reinstall the latest version.

If that doesn't work, you may have to go to run--%26gt;msconfig to get to the registry to take a look. It's a messy thing though, you should back up the reg before working on it.

Why doesn't Firefox/IE connect to the internet?

Help me please! I have been using Netscape to connect to the internet, which I don't really like. I have internet connection and can ping any website, but for whatever reason Firefox/IE won't connect. It says "unable to connect to the internet" everytime I try for some reason. This happened a few weeks back first with IE, than couple days later with Firefox. However, Netscape has never had a problem so far. Please help me fix this problem. I hate using Netscape, since IE is my default browser. Thank you.

Why doesn't Firefox/IE connect to the internet?ie tab

what can you ping? If you can ping by both name (www.yahoo.com) and ip (69.147.114.210), then it is not a firewall. the problem would be within the browser. If you can only ping by name it is most likely the anti-virus firewall, spyware, 3rd party browser extensions, wrong proxies. If you can only ping by ip, the flush your dns. ( goto the command prompt and type ipconfig /flushdns. the most common cause is the firewall though, especially if it's norton or mcaffe... if all fails, you may need to reset tcp/ip through the command prompt. it would depend on the version of windows...i assume you have windows. (on a mac, there is one fix for all not moving data issues, just create a new network location.if it's XP there is a regedit to reinstall tcp/ip by deleting winsock1 and 2. you can search for the xp winsock2 regedit for proper instructions, MAKE SURE you export the registry as a text file before deleting anything within the registry, however, i doubt you'll have to go that far

New IE with tabs...?

I use the new IE with tabs. Is there a way to set a homepage for the new tabs that open? Google is my homepage when I open up the IE window, but not when I open new tabs. When I open new tabs, it's basically just blank.

Click on "tools" and then "internet options".

On the top tab labelled "General", near the bottom should be a "tabs" section.

Choose "settings" to the right of this section.

Then ensure that "Open home page for new tabs instead of blank page" is selected.

Also, it might matter if "Open only the first home page when internet explorer starts" tab is checked, but probably only if you have designated multiple pages.

Anyone else have trouble with new IE 7?

I just installed my new Dell XPS 410 computer and it worked fine until I downloaded IE 7 and restarted it. I spent over 5 hours trying to fix the problem. It seems when I click on a link, the program stops working (IE 7) and I have to "end task" - needless to say I'm very frustrated and have had to revert back to the old IE, much to my chagrin. I loved the IE 7 which worked fine on my Dell Dimension 4300 (although that computer is very slow, especially compared to my XPS 410). Anyone else have this problem and if so, how do I fix it? Thanks for your serious answers!

Anyone else have trouble with new IE 7?internet explorer download

The reason why IT organizations are NOT upgrading to IE7 is not because it is bad software. It is because its the first version of software. No IT company will ever upgrade any software to its first revision of the upgrade, that's just asking for trouble.

Now, you are free to use FireFox, but there is another problem with your computer that it is acting the way it is with IE7. Leaving it like that and just using another browser will lead to further problems.

First, did you download IE7 from Microsoft directly? If no, please do.

Second, have you updated your Windows installation by going to Windows Update? (http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com)

Third, did you have any toolbars installed prior to installing IE7? If yes, please uninstall them. Then try installing IE7 again.

Good luck, let us know how it goes.

stop using ie7 and download mozilla firefox.
the best solution: get firefox it is much more stable (and faster, cleaner, cooler, and hurts microsoft :))

IE7 still has bugs. You could trying checking for updates or reinstalling with the latest version.

I can't help you with fixing your problem, but I hate IE7 and have only heard negative things about it. Good luck!
Uninstall IE7 and Install FireFox 2.0. Problem Solved.
Internet Explorer is beyond lame.

Get a real browser. Get Firefox. Get it here.

http://www.firefox.com
First, I would attempt to utilize a System Restore point prior to installing IE7. Although it has been released you'll want to go read the release notes from Microsoft to verify that you have everything up to date for the IE7 installlation. I do know that many IT organizations are currently not supporting IE7 until the appropriate updates are clarified and released.
Forget IE7.... Internet Explorer blew it's last straw for me this time last week too.

Brand spanking new computer (built myself), fresh install of Windows XP SP2 with Internet Explorer6 last Thursday afternoon.

Come Friday night, IE6 was rendered as much use as a chocolate fireguard by the fact the pop-up blocker decided it wouldn't let me download all the new software I needed to get back up to speed again after my old PC had completely fried it's self....... wouldn't let me open my webmail either........... so in the end I installed Mozilla Firefox instead, since I had a copy downloaded earlier in the week on my USB flashdrive having downloaded it from my Grandma's computer to try get my crappy old laptop I was having to make do with until my new PC was completed actually capable of loading websites (that thing was so old it was running IE4, and wouldn't load newer sites like this place, or MySpace, etc).

Trust me......... just get Firefox, it's ALOT easier.... doesn't matter if you're using a shagged-out Laptop with a 133MHz Pentium1 Processor %26amp; 80MB of RAM (upgraded from 16MB), or a relatively fast PC like my new 3.33GHz Intel Celeron D desktop, with 1GB of RAM.... FIREFOX works loads faster, and if it does screw-up then when you try to re-open it, it gives you the opportunity to resume from the webpage you were last looking at when it crashed.

http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/
i have the same problem! i use yahoo messenger, email, tool bar and originally downloaded IE7 along w/ the above. My brand new DELL XPS 410 comes equiped w/ trend/micro/pc-cillian and all sorts of software too. The " darn thang" freeezes, stops and states "program not responding" and then ya gotta 'end task' and start a new??!! I did the system restore w/ dell, redownloaded IE6 and yahoo stuff...but still have "not responding" $#%!!!, when switching to my space, yahoo pics, email ect....does anyone "really" agree w/ the IE guy who says 'uninstall all and the DL IE7' or if Firefox is so great HOW %26amp; WHAT DO I UNINSTALL to start fresh and use this 'bloody" thing for which I need? and i still wann keep yahoo mail, MSN, hotmail? Is this possible?
Well, you really need to make sure you go back to a restore point before you grabbed IE7.

IE7 is a typical Microsoft product, released before testing, and you are one of the testers!!!

Just say NO!!!

Then, http://getfirefox.com
Contrarily to what some ppl might say, don't uninstall IE7, unless u overwrite it with an IE6 installation. Uninstalling IE completely may cause problems for your Windows operating system. I would probably suggest u revert to IE6 as the first step.

Then try using an alternate browser. Don't listen to those that say "switch to firefox, it's the best." Well that's a pretty subjective comment, it's like saying "eat chocolate ice cream, it's the best." Although Firefox is also my personal favorite, only YOU can tell what browser u like best, so here's a list of some of the more popular alternatives to IE on the Windows platform:

- Mozilla Firefox

- Opera

- Netscape

- Mozilla (now called SeaMonkey)

There are others less popular, but these are the ones I suggest u try out if u want to get away from IE. And remember, in the software world, u shouldn't let people force software on you (like Microsoft does), you should be using what you like.

P.S. I use IE7 as my 3rd browser of choice (Firefox being the first and Opera being the second) and so far, I haven't had too much problem with it. Feature-wise I think it's better than IE6, and they are catching up with the other browsers, but I still feel it's lagging behind somewhat on web standards (you'll notice if u do web development). Bug-wise, well I think u've experienced it on ur own.

Have fun experimenting with new things

Is it possible to have IE 6 and IE 7 installed on the same operating system?

I need to verify that changes I'm making to a website look good in several browsers. When I installed IE 7, I believe IE 6 was deleted and now a reinstall of IE 6 aborts with "Setup has detected a newer version on the system".

What can be done?

(For personal use, I do not plan on using either of these browsers.)

No, you can't. If you want to use both, then you need to keep installing and uninstalling ie7, when you uninstall ie7, ie6 gets put back on.

There are softwares specifically designed to check if a web site is viewable by diff browsers. Code it for the most ancient browser and it will be okay.

Does anyone else experience IE not loading pages completely, in other words, saying it is done, when

Since I've switched to IE 7, I've noticed many, many improvements, but it seems that I have been having to hit refresh or clicking on links more often to get the pages to load correctly.

It isn't my internet connection. I am on a high speed back bone connection with 10 MB/s bandwidth (10 down, 3 up).

For example, I go to view a streaming video...the page loads, it displays everything almost immediately except for the video and an image or two. Now it may be due to Ad servers and the order IE downloads (in particular, many more pages containing adclick and similar services seem to have this problem more often), but the unusual thing is that after waiting for a few seconds, the status bar in IE indicates Done, and the connection lights go out, but it isn't finished! I check my connection, and the speed is still fine (excellent connection). So I hit refresh, and what do you know, the video now suddenly appears as if "Oopps, did you want to see this content too?"!

Anyone else?

Does anyone else experience IE not loading pages completely, in other words, saying it is done, when it isn't?download ie

yes, this happens to me too. I never know if it is the server or what. Sometimes it refreshes fine. Sometimes I have to close IE and open it again.
